One of the most common question I've heard over the years is "how much do I have to put down". If you've been around the car business for any amount of time at all, you've heard this and variants of this multiple times. So, to begin with there are a couple types of dealers out there. The "buy here/ pay here" is a dealer that will sell you a car and let you make payments to the dealer. He will ask for a down payment and that amount typically covers his cost for the car. He's already recouped his cost of the car and all of the payments from there are all profit. Next is the all cash dealer. He will negotiate to a price that is acceptable to both parties and then it's up to you to come up with the money. He won't help you get financing if that's what you require. That's up to you. Finally, there is the dealer that will take cash but also has the relationships with banks and credit unions to set the loan up for you. Typically, the dealer can get you a slightly lower rate than you can get yourself because the banks know the dealer has other options for their customer and comes up with their best rate upfront.
We are the third type of dealer. We will take cash but we can also get you approved at one of our lending partners. So, the amount down doesn't matter to us. If money is needed it will be required by the bank, not the dealer. We won't ask for a down payment unless the bank requires one. Our goal is to get everyone approved with little or no down payment. Make sense?
Thanks for listening......
